What is Collagen Biostimulator?

Different to wrinkle relaxers or fillers, this injectable works by revitalizing your natural collagen production that is lost over time. Collagen provides vital support and structure for the skin and, with age this diminishes. That’s why we start to see the formation of lines and wrinkles, and loss of overall volume.

Unlike other dermal fillers made from hyaluronic acid or collagen, collagen biostimulators are made from Calcium (#Radiesse) or Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) (#Sculptra) that helps to stimulate collagen production.

The procedure itself is minimally invasive and virtually pain free as you are numbed prior.

There is minimal downtime, which means you can return to work the same day.

Results can take up to 3 months and last for 24 months.

Areas can be treated with Collagen Biostimulator

Biostimulators can be used in nearly any part of the body that you would like to increase your collagen levels. Many of my patients use these injections to reduce the visible signs of aging in different areas of the face (such as the cheeks, jawline and temple), though the neck is also an area of choice for some as it often shows signs of aging before other parts of the body.

We can also treat cellulite with Collagen biostimulators.

They are a powerful, non surgical option to provide a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of dimpling skin and skin texture. This helps to offer patients long lasting results in the treatment of cellulite and improving the appearance of hip dips.

Other types of Collagen Biostimulator

A combination of treatments can be used to help stimulate and accelerate #collagen production depending on your unique skin concerns and desired results. Best combinations are PDO mono threads, meso-firming coctail, PRP.

All other combination treatment plans and collagen stimulating treatments are individually tailored and can include Intense Pulse Light (IPL), Dermal Skin Needling, Micro-Needling with Radio Frequency, Fraxel Laser Resurfacing.

Gradual and long-lasting results

A #collagenbiostimulator is not a quick-fix. When it comes to the #biostimulator, the effects appear gradually over the course of several months and can last for up to two years or more.

Gradual and long-lasting effects are also what most consumers are looking for. In a clinical study, 75 percent of the women preferred gradual results that last two years over immediate results lasting 12 months. Another study has showed that women over 50 are dissatisfied with physical changes like sagging skin and feel trapped within an older body. This is where a collagen biostimulator can make a difference as it targets collagen loss—one of the major contributors to loose skin and wrinkles.

Results and expectation

It is important to know that it is difficult to get an exact measure of firmness and elasticity. Often, indirect measurement methods are used, for example a cutometer. A cutometer uses a small probe that is pressed to the skin surface. The skin is then exposed to a negative pressure, which will draw the skin into the probe (also called suction method). The resistance of the skin to the negative pressure is interpreted as skin firmness and its ability to return to its original position (when the negative pressure has been discontinued) is interpreted as skin elasticity.

It is often easier and more straightforward to take a before and after photo to evaluate changes in loose skin, deep folds, wrinkles and other signs of aging that you wish to reduce. This is a wise recommendation for all kinds of aesthetic treatments.
